Debbie Gibson will Appear in the Musical Episode of ‘Lucifer’

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that singer Debbie Gibson will be joining the cast of Lucifer for their special musical episode titled “Bloody Celestial Karaoke Jam.”

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Gibson grew up in the suburb of Merrick on Long Island. She exhibited a talent for music early on and studied piano under famed American pianist Morton Estrin. By the time she was a teenager, she was writing her own songs and when one of her demos found its way into the hands of an executive at Atlantic records, her career was on its way.

She first rose to fame in the late 80s with hits like “Foolish Beat,” “Shake Your Love,” and the classic “Lost in Your Eyes” from her Electric Youth album.

While plot details are still being withheld on the episode–we don’t know how or why the cast will be breaking into song–Gibson will reportedly play hovering, helicopter mom Shelly Bitner who keeps her song JJ firmly under her thumb at all times, and YES, she will be singing in the episode, as well.

It will be interesting to see exactly how this all plays out, and we can’t wait to see Gibson–who has also appeared on Broadway–will interact with series stars Tom Ellis, D.B. Woodside, Lesley-Ann Brandt, Lauren German, and Rachael Harris. Harris’s character of psychiatrist Linda Martin would certainly be a good fit, perhaps as JJ’s therapist?

Season five of Lucifer, which will be broken into two parts, is shaping up to be one for the books with the announcement of Gibson joining the musical episode just days after we found that actor Dennis Haysbert would be joining the cast for season five as God.
